A Leaky Shelter: Battling Rain in a Fragile Tent

Every morning when I open my eyes, the nightmare continues. Our flimsy tent, made of thin fabric, is barely enough to shield us from the harsh conditions.

The unexpected September rain arrived—a month and a half earlier than usual. It pierced through the fragile fabric of our tent, soaking everything inside. The rain that typically starts after mid-October caught us completely unprepared.

We scrambled to cover the tent with whatever we could find, hoping to reduce the damage

The Struggles of a Fragile Tent

Despite our efforts, many of our belongings were ruined by the leaks. Among them was Muhammad’s mobile phone—a crucial lifeline for us to communicate and access help. Losing it was another blow in an already overwhelming struggle.

While covering the tent with a lid and becoming soaked in the process, I remembered the poet’s words:

“I’m drowning – why should I be afraid of getting wet?”

The phrase reflected the harsh reality we live in. When I’ve already lost everything, what’s left to fear? Getting wet seemed insignificant compared to the greater losses we endure every day.

The Pain of Helplessness

As I watched the water stream into the tent, I looked at my daughter, Sella. Her innocent eyes, filled with confusion, broke my heart. She deserves a warm, dry place to sleep—a place where she can feel safe and protected.

A Night Without Sleep

That night, I stayed awake, keeping a constant watch to ensure no more water entered our tent. I patched leaks as best I could, trying to stop the rain from reaching our bedding and blankets.

At that moment, we miss our home from which we were displaced, where it provided comfort, warmth and safety

What Would You Do?

If you were in our situation, how would you protect your family from the relentless rain in such a fragile tent?

- Would you stay awake through the night, watching for leaks?

- How would you manage to keep your loved ones safe and dry with so little?

We would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

How You Can Help

Despite the pain and struggles, I hold on to hope. I promised my beautiful Sella that I would rebuild our lives, no matter how hard it gets. She deserves a warm bed, a safe place to play, and a childhood filled with joy.  .
